Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was not the best team in the IPL auctions as they missed the opportunity to grab any of the marquee players and spent huge amounts on players like Alzarri Joseph and Yash Dayal.
Both the Gujarat Titans pacers had a terrible outing in IPL 2023. Yash Dayal was smoked for five sixes in an over by Rinku Singh in a match between KKR and GT, while Alzarri Joseph was very expensive in most of the matches for GT.
RCB also bought players like Lockie Ferguson, Tom Curran and Will Jacks in the auctions. They have a good team this season, but one thing they are missing is a limited bowler. Karn Sharma is the only player playing in the team and apart from that, RCB’s lineup lacks spin attack.
However, they have a good pace attack this year and their batting has always been a dominant force with players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell in the team.
The impact player rule was introduced in the IPL last year and allows teams to substitute one player and introduce another player as an impact substitute in the middle of the game. This rule was a huge success in the IPL as it allowed many young players to showcase their talents on the big stage. Let’s see which players RCB can use as impact substitutes in the upcoming IPL 2024.
IPL 2024: 3 players RCB can use as impact players in the tournament
1. Vijaykumar Vyshak:
Vijaykumar Vyshak, a bowler from Karnataka, was picked by RCB in IPL 2023 as a replacement for the injured Reece Topley. He was the most used impact player for RCB in IPL 2023. He was used as an impact player whenever RCB bowled second in a match.
This tactic allowed RCB to play an extra batsman during their batting and then substitute Vyshak as the bowler during RCB’s bowling. The Bengaluru-based franchise can still use this tactic to play an extra batsman during their innings.
2. Will Jacks:
If RCB wants to use a foreign player as an impact substitute, then there is no better option than Will Jacks. Will Jacks has an excellent strike rate in T20 cricket. He has been impressive in all T20s, scoring over 3500 runs at a strike rate of 157.16, including 29 fifties and centuries.
He is one of the few players to have scored a century in ‘The Hundred Competition’. A perfect impact player material for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL.
3. Saurav Chauhan:
The 23-year-old is another option that Royal Challengers Bangalore can use as an impact player. He has an excellent strike rate in T20 cricket and is known for his boundary-pushing abilities. He has scored 464 runs in 19 T20 matches at an average of 29 and a strike rate of 152.13.
He can fit in perfectly for RCB as an impact player, not forgetting the occasional breaks he can offer. He is also a confident goalkeeper and can be used as a 4-dimensional player.
