IPL 2024 auction: ‘SRH returned Harry Brook…’ – Brad Hogg predicts batsman’s fate at auction

England batting sensation Harry Brook will be one of the best batsmen to watch out for in the IPL 2024 Auction. After tying him for 13.25 crores, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) released him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. He ended up scoring just 190 runs in 11 innings, including a century in his debut season.

Brook’s first season in IPL was not unforgettable. Apart from his century against KKR, he didn’t have much to offer with the bat. Therefore, the reputation with which he had gone to the auction was shattered. With Rs 34 crore in stock, Hyderabad has one of the largest remaining portfolios among all franchises.

They will look to revamp their squads and will need to target a foreign pacer along with an Indian pacer and spinner who can play consistently in the XI. SRH retained 19 players and are looking to fill the remaining six spots, three of which are overseas spots.

SRH likely to buy back Harry Brook: Brad Hogg

Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, Hogg stated that he hopes SRH goes after Brook once again and nabs him for a lower price.

“They got rid of Harry Brook and threw him back into the auction. They spent too much on him thinking that great things were going to come out of him. But he is first on the list and Travis Head is second. “SRH has a lot of money to spend.” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

Hoogg further said that the Hyderabad franchise can target Mujeeb Ur Rahman in their efforts to strengthen their spin attack.

“They know everyone will be after Travis Head, so they hope to get Harry Brook back for about 20 percent of the price they paid for him at the last auction. That will free up some money to strengthen the bowling department with an overseas quick, but they also need strength in the spin department, a wicket-taking option and I think they will go for Mujeeb-ur-Rahman.” Hogg further stated.

Hogg also spoke about the Gujarat Titans and who they might target in the auction. He said that in addition to targeting Travis Head, GT can go after Mitchell Starc. Starc returned to the IPL auction after 8 years. Hogg said Starc and Mohammed Shami can form a very good pairing for the Titans.

Gujarat Titans may target Mitchell Starc: Brad Hogg

“They have the most money to spend and they are going to go to great lengths for Travis Head. They want an explosive leadoff hitter and he is the right man for the job. They also have enough money in the bank for a big overseas player to really complement Shami in the bowling department, so watch out for Mitchell Starc.” Hogg said.

“He will be the man GT chooses. He’ll be a great acquisition and don’t panic GT fans, this time he’s really coming. Imagine Shami and Starc opening the bowling for GT in the powerplay, they will be tough to beat.” Hogg concluded by saying.

The IPL 2024 auction will be held in Dubai on December 19 and will be telecast on Star Sports Network. The live streaming of the same will be available on the Jio Cinema app.
