The eighth game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 hosted the high-octane SRH vs MI on Wednesday (March 27). The two teams faced each other at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
When asked to bat first in the SRH vs MI game, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a brutal start in the game, thanks to Travis Head. The Australian batsman scored 62 runs off 54 balls and after that, Abhishek Sharma put in an even better performance with the bat.
The left-hander also completed a brutal half-century in just 16 balls and finished with an innings of 63 runs off 23 balls. He made sure that the Mumbai Indians bowlers had no answers to the massacre at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
After that, Heinrich Klaasen (80*) and Aiden Markram (42*) made sure to take the game completely out of Mumbai Indians’ hands. They added an unbeaten partnership of 116 runs and took their team to the highest total in IPL. They finished with 277 runs on the board.
Rohit Sharma (26) and Ishan Kishan (34) took Mumbai Indians off the wheel in the big chase. The duo added 56 runs for the maiden stand and provided a great platform to the team. After that, Naman Dhir (30) and Tilak Varma (64) played magnificently well.
The youngsters kept Mumbai Indians in the game and ensured that their score was run at a rate of around 14. After Tilak got out, things got tough for the Hardik Pandya-led team as they couldn’t score runs freely. Tim David (42*) did his best but it was an uphill task as Mumbai lost the game by 31 runs.

Chennai Super Kings retained the first place in the IPL 2024 points table after SRH vs MI match 8 along with Rajasthan Royals at the second place. Sunrisers Hyderabad after the victory jumped to third place, while Kolkata Knight Riders fell to fourth. Punjab Kings are at fifth place, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. The rest of the teams have not yet registered to win.
