IPL 2024 Points Table: Rajasthan Royals, on Thursday (March 28), beat Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in the ninth game of the ongoing IPL 2024 to register their second win. Chasing 186 for their first win of the tournament, DC ended their innings at 173 for 5.
DC’s chase started on a good note when Mitchell Marsh took off. The Australian all-rounder raced to 23 off just 11 balls before being dismissed by Nandre Burger in the fourth over. In the same over, Burger dismissed Ricky Bhui for a duck to reduce DC to 30 for 2.
David Warner and RISHABH PANTS he steadied the ship with a 67-run stand. Avesh Khan broke the stand by dismissing Warner for 49. 8 runs later, Yuzvendra Chahal returned Rishabh Pant for 28 to reduce DC to 105 for 4. Abhishek Porel couldn’t do much and departed for 9 to leave his team reeling at 122. for 5. in the 16th up. Tristan Stubbs scored 44 of 23 late, but his efforts were not enough for DC to win its first game of the season.

When asked to bat first, the Royals were staring down the barrel after being reduced to 36 for 3 in the eighth over. Both their openers and the captain failed to reach the 20-run mark. Mukesh Kumar gave DC the first breakthrough by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 5 in the second over.
In the sixth over, Khaleel Ahmed returned captain Sanju Samson for 15 before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jos Buttler for 11 to put DC on top. Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin then steadied the ship with a 54-run stand. Axar Patel broke the stand when he dismissed Ashwin for 29.
It was followed by another fifty-plus stand when Parag and Jurel added 52 runs for the fifth wicket. While Jurel departed for 20, Parag stayed till the end to take his team to a total of over 180. He scored an unbeaten 84 in 45 balls with the help of seven fours and six sixes.

RR is currently in second place in the points table with two wins in as many games. DC, for its part, is in eighth position with two defeats. Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings are currently on top of the IPL 2024 points table.
