On Friday, December 8, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise announced the appointment of Sanjay Bangar as the new Director of Cricket Development ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
This is a homecoming for Sanjay Bangar, who started his IPL coaching career with the Punjab-based franchise. In 2014, he joined the franchise as an assistant coach and was promoted to the head coach position in the same season.
Under his leadership, the team did a great job and reached the final of the IPL, before losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the summit clash. He remained with the Punjab-based franchise for three years, before resigning due to BCCI’s conflict of interest rules.
He later served as hitting coach for indian national cricket team, before joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a consultant and then head coach. RCB parted ways with Sanjay Bangar ahead of the IPL 2024 season and now Punjab Kings (PBKS) have roped in the services of him.
