IPL 2024: Wasim Akram makes huge “Mini-IPL” comment on PSL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) are two of the best cricket leagues in the world and many renowned foreign players participate in the competition. The value of both cricket leagues increases every year and a lot of entertainment takes place every year. However, at one extreme, IPL started in the year 2008, while PSL started in the year 2016.

In the Indian Premier League, an auction is held every year in which many famous names from all over the world are auctioned. On the other hand, in the Pakistan Super League, there is a draft system in which players are classified into Platinum, Gold and Silver categories.

As far as the IPL is concerned, it has many big names as its global companies, sponsors and franchises provide huge salaries to its players. On the other hand, the PSL works on a smaller scale and the salaries of the players are also limited.

IPL 2024: Wasim Akram’s big admission in the Pakistan Super League

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram while talking to Sportskeeda admitted that IPL is bigger than PSL while PSL is a mini-IPL for Pakistan. Wasim Akram said, “I have worked on both; The two tournaments cannot be compared. The IPL is huge and the PSL is also huge in Pakistan; without a doubt, it is like Pakistan’s mini-IPL.”

Wasim Akram has been a part of the Indian Premier League and has worked as a bowling consultant for the Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, Akram has also served as president of the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.

There is also a lot of instability in the Pakistan Super League as the Pakistan Cricket Board was unable to start the bidding process for the next edition of the tournament. This was due to the ban imposed by the interim government of Pakistan.

There are also a lot of security problems in Pakistan, which is why very few players from around the world come and participate in the league.

On the other hand, the brand value of IPL is huge and channels are willing to spend millions to acquire the broadcast rights to the cash-rich league. Also, it is like a festival in India and the cricket stadiums are full of spectators.

Also in the recent edition of IPL 2024 auction, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was sold for INR 24.75 crore. This is basically equal to the brand value of Pakistan Super League.

Many international series are also held during the PSL, so players cannot participate in the tournament, while during the IPL there are hardly any international bilateral series.

The next edition of the Indian Premier League will begin at the end of March 2024 and will run until May. Chennai Super Kings are the reigning champions of the cash-rich league and will want to defend the title to become the most successful team in the tournament.
