Former South Africa national cricket team player Dale Steyn has expressed his desire to coach the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). He said that he always wanted to play with MS Dhoni and he is willing to do so even now because he will learn from the best.

MS Dhoni has made Chennai Super Kings the most successful in the IPL
The success that MS Dhoni has had has been immense. He led India National Cricket to all the ICC trophies won under his leadership. Not only this, the wicketkeeper-batsman also made Chennai Super Kings the most successful team in the league, guiding the team to five titles.
One of the main reasons why MS Dhoni is rated highly is because of how he, along with himself, brings out the best in the other players in the team. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of many players. He is also credited with bringing players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and others to the Indian team.

Many players over the years have expressed their desire to play with Dhoni, and even now it is the same. Former South African player Dale Steyn also showed his admiration for the former Chennai Super Kings captain.
Dale Steyn said he always wanted to play for Chennai Super Kings and was even willing to accept the pay cut and warm benches. He said that even if he got a chance to play today he would also come back to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Speaking on a podcast, he explained:
“I am a big fan of MS Dhoni; I always wanted to be a part of CSK. I was even willing to take a pay cut just to be in the CSK environment. I was willing to sit on the CSK bench if it meant being a part of the team. the team”
“I mean, I wanted to play for a guy like MS Dhoni. Even today, if someone told me you have to come back. I would probably prepare myself to go into that so I can become a better player.”
I would love to coach teams that can win IPL – Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn spoke about his desire to coach teams and believes that working with MS Dhoni would also help shape his career. He said that he wants to coach teams that can win IPL and World Cups and it would be good to learn from Dhoni. He added:
“Understanding of the game and potentially a better coach in the future, because I would love to now that I am no longer a player. I would love to coach teams that can win IPL, World Cups and all these other trophies and I think if you learn from the best that have done more on Dhoni, it would have been pretty good.”
