Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has picked his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI. The wrist-spinner has picked three Indian cricket legends – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two openers picked by Piyush Chawla in the All-Time IPL XI. The top batsmen of the Indian National Cricket Team have made a huge impact in the league and are among the leading run-scorers in the history of the tournament.
While Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the IPL with 8,004 runs in 244 innings, Rohit, on the other hand, is third in the list of leading run-scorers, with 6,626 runs in 252 innings. He also captained Mumbai Indians to all five league titles, making them the most successful.
At number 3, Piyush Chawla picked Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently the best T20 batsman in the world. The Mumbai Indians player, over the last few years, has been a consistent performer for the team. In the 150 games, he has amassed around 3600 runs in the tournament.
Chawla also included MS Dhoni in his team. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been a legend in the league and has made a huge impact. He has scored 5243 runs in 229 innings, along with 148 catches and 42 stumpings. He has also won five league titles as captain.
Piyush Chawla picked Yuvraj Singh ahead of Suresh Raina in his all-time IPL XI. Yuvraj played a decent role in the league, but Raina, on the other hand, is considered Mr. IPL, and not being included in the squad raises a lot of eyebrows.
Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers are the two overseas batsmen that Chawla picked for his team. The duo played a pivotal role in the league and were undoubtedly two of the most explosive batsmen in the league. They are among the best overseas players to have played in the league.
As for the foreign bowlers, Piyush Chawla picked Lasith Malinga and Sunil Narine. While the former Sri Lankan fast bowler played a pivotal role in the Mumbai Indians’ league, Narine, on the other hand, is still going strong and is considered the legend of the league.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is considered to be India’s best fast bowler, has also been named in their squad. The fast bowler has been the main reason for Mumbai Indians’ success in the league. Chawla also picked the leg-spinner, whom he did not name but mentioned would make a big impact. Chawla himself has been one of the best bowlers in the league. He has taken 192 wickets in the league.
