Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been confirmed for a new role at JSW Sports. Ganguly has been appointed as the Director of Cricket at JSW Sports and will now look after all cricket affairs of JSW Group.
Ganguly has been removed from the role of Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, a role he held until IPL 2024. He will lead all cricket activities carried out by JSW Sports, which includes the IPL and WPL teams of Delhi Capitals, and Pretoria Capitals. in SA20.

Sourav Ganguly confirmed as JSW Sports Director of Cricket
Ganguly’s appointment as Director of Cricket at JSW Sports was confirmed by team owner Parth Jindal and Sourav Ganguly himself. Jindal called Ganguly part of a “family” and believes his guidance will benefit the JSW Sports teams.
“Dada has always had a special place at JSW Sports. For us, he is the family first and then the cricket icon that he is. “I have said this in the past and it remains true even today – he is one of the sharpest brains in cricket and we will always benefit from his guidance and wisdom in the sport,” Jindal said.
“I am honored and delighted that Dada will now spearhead all things cricket for JSW Sports in his role as director,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly also shared a statement and expressed his pleasure in joining the JSW group in a new role.
“I have had the pleasure of getting to know the JSW Group and the Jindal family personally and professionally, which made this an easy decision. JSW Sports has been doing visionary work across the board and I am glad to be able to bring my experience to all their cricket projects,” said Ganguly.
Delhi Capitals appoint new head coach and director of Cricket
In place of Sourav Ganguly, former India cricketer Venugopal Rao has been confirmed as Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals in the IPL. The Capitals also named Hemang Badani as the team’s head coach starting next season.
However, Ganguly will participate in the IPL auction, albeit in a lesser capacity. The former India captain will participate in the auction with JSW director Parth Jindal. However, there are no details on the extent of his involvement.
Why has Sourav Ganguly’s role changed?
Recently, JSW and GMR group, co-owners of Delhi Capitals, mutually decided that the IPL franchise will be run by GMR for the next two seasons, in 2025 and 2026. However, JSW group will run the Delhi Capitals women’s team. and Pretoria Capitals in SA20 during these two years.
The change in Ganguly’s role is due to his association with the JSW group, which will not gain control of Delhi Capitals until 2027. During this time, Ganguly will look after the cricket operations of the controlling JSW group.
