CSK’s captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has talked about his first meeting with the legendary Cricket MS Dhoni player during his early years in the franchise. Gaikwad also admitted to being nervous while sharing the same costume with Dhoni.
Mrs. Dhoni left Chennai Super Kings captaincy after taking the team to the IPL 2023 gain. The team’s management chose Ruturaj Gaikwad as the next team captain. However, CSK was below the torque in IPL 2024, since they had to deal with a no. of injury problems and could not reach the playoffs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad breaks silence at its first meeting with Mrs. Dhoni
Ruturaj Gaikwad spoke with Indian Express and shared the experiences of his first meeting with Dhoni. He felt nervous in his first interaction with the legend, but felt comfortable later, since both shared the same costumes.
“For the first time (I was) very nervous (while I shared a costume with MS Dhoni). Obviously, I had never met anyone with that kind of stature. But it made me feel comfortable and made me feel that it was a part of the team,” he said Gaikwad.
“After that until now, when he is close, I wear chicken skin, but I have to recover and concentrate, I never dreamed of that, playing with Mrs. Dhoni,” he revealed.
Gaikwad also talked about his game plans while he is hitting on the IPL. The right -hander has the ability to hit and has the goal of hiting until Dhoni goes out to hit.
“With the type of age difference we have, it is almost 16-18 years older than me. So every time I go out to hit by CSK in the IPL, my only goal is to play until MS Dhoni comes to hit,” the First added game.

Dhoni is a legendary captain and has taken CSK to five IPL titles. The Wicktkeeper-Bater is also the most successful captain in the history of IPL with 133 wins and 91 losses in 226 games with a percentage of victories of 58.84.

Dhoni has been playing the IPL since the opening edition of the tournament in 2008. He took CSK to the final in the first season where they lost to Rajasthan Royals. CSK won his first IPL trophy in 2010 and also won another title in next year.
Dhoni has exceptional IPL numbers with 5243 runs in 264 games at an average of 39.12 and a strike rate of 137.53 with 24 years fifty. Despite hitting the lowest order for most of his career, he was able to contribute largely to the bat in pressure situations.
