His recent move has raised questions about his future with the franchise.
In a recent turn of events ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, a fresh drama has unfolded around a Punjab Kings (PBKS) player.
Shashank Singh, who was unceremoniously bought by the franchise in the IPL 2024 auction for INR 20 lakhs, has now hinted that he could part ways ahead of the next season.
The PBKS star removed the franchise’s name from his Instagram bio. His latest bio says “Professional Cricketer” while earlier he had clearly mentioned Punjab Kings.
While there were earlier reports suggesting that Shashank could be retained, his recent move has definitely raised questions over his future in the Punjab-based team.

Shashank Singh enjoyed a great campaign in the last IPL season
Despite the minor hiccup in the auction where PBKS initially rejected buying Shashank Singh and later accepted the decision, the 32-year-old enjoyed a great campaign.
Shashank showcased his batting prowess by batting in the middle order by scoring 354 runs in 14 games at a stellar average of 44.25 and an impressive strike rate of 164.65. He achieved his highest score in the tournament with a powerful knock of 68 runs against the eventual winners of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders.
Speaking earlier about his retention by Punjab Kings, Shashank mentioned that even if he is not retained, he is optimistic about other opportunities as there are many franchises in the IPL and his main goal is to continue playing.
As per BCCI’s revised IPL 2025 retention rules, Shashank can be retained as an uncapped player, and each franchise can retain two uncapped players at a price of ₹4 crore per player.
