MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has spoken about MS Dhoni’s retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the wicketkeeper-batsman did not inform the management about his decision and whatever he decides they will not interfere in that.

One of the burning topics that has been making headlines is whether MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025 or not. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been battling knee problems and since he will turn 43 this year, there are high chances of him retiring soon.

After the last season of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings batsman Ms Dhoni said that she would play the 2024 edition as it would be a gift from her side to the fans. The keeper-batsman, however, kept his promise and entertained his fans with the brutal power of him at the end by hitting a big six.

But with Chennai Super Kings being eliminated from the tournament, there has been a lot of speculation about what MS Dhoni’s future will be in the league. There have been reports claiming that the wicketkeeper-batsman has not decided anything so far and he might take the decision two months later.

Reports claimed that MS Dhoni will first head to London for treatment for his knee problems. The wicketkeeper-batsman is interested in playing cricket, but only if his knee problems allow it, otherwise he will hang up his league boots.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan said there was no discussion about MS Dhoni’s retirement in the dressing room. He stated that they do not ask the keeper-batsman about his decisions and that they will not interfere. Speaking to Indian Express, he explained:

“There were no discussions about it in the locker room. We have never asked him about his future and he has not said anything about it either. When he makes a decision, he will inform us and until then we will not interfere.”

I don’t think this is his last game – Ambati Rayudu on Chennai Super Kings

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, after the exit of the Chennai Super Kings from the league, believes that MS Dhoni will not retire as he will play in the next edition of the league. He believes that the keeper-batsman wants to end his career and on a high. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“I don’t think this is his last game. I just don’t see him wanting to end on this note. He seemed a little frustrated even when he left. That’s very different from MS Dhoni, he just wanted to qualify and finish at the top. But you never know if MS Dhoni might come back next year.”

In the course MS Dhoni looked in great contact with the bat. Although he came up to bat later in the order, he made sure to entertain his fans with his brutal hitting power. It remains to be seen what the future of the wicketkeeper-batsman will be in the league.
