Indian national cricket team batsman Ishan Kishan is making a strong comeback to the domestic circuit. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored a magnificent century while playing for Jharkhand against Railways in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game at the ADSA Railways Cricket Ground.
Kishan, who has been out of the Indian team setup due to issues related to playing in the domestic circuit with the BCCI, is once again making a strong case for India’s return. The swashbuckling batsman has been proving his batting prowess once again and in tough situations.
Ishan Kishan thrives under pressure
In the ongoing match against Railways, Jharkhand was under pressure. They lost 4 quick wickets and that’s when Ishan Kishan absorbed all the pressure. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who has been going through a good period of form, made sure to continue doing so and got his team out of trouble.
Kishan was joined by Virat Singh who also closed the century for the team. The duo added a partnership of 174 runs for the fifth wicket and took Jharkhand to the 300-run mark. The keeper-batsman batted in his usual aggressive manner and raced towards his half-century and after that, he didn’t look back.
Ishan Kishan scores 101 runs off just 158 balls
Kishan, after that, scored a magnificent century in his first innings in the Ranji Trophy. The keeper-batsman smashed 101 runs off just 158 balls, including 13 fours and 2 sixes, and sent a stirring statement to the selectors ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. His century came at a time when Rishabh Pant was injured in the ongoing Test against New Zealand.
Thanks to Ishan Kishan’s enthralling innings, Jharkhand had a solid day with the bat after a shaky start. His knock propelled his team to 325 for five at stumps. The knock would surely have given him a lot of confidence ahead of the domestic season in India.
Ishan Kishan returned home for Jharkhand in Buchi Babu tournament
Kishan, who opted out of cricket due to personal reasons, returned to domestic cricket for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu tournament. He made an astonishing comeback by reaching a blistering century. He continued his golden touch even in the Duleep Trophy.
The left-hander played for India C and also recorded a lot there before turning out for Rest of India in the Iran Cup. He would love to make an impact for his team in the Ranji Trophy along with the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and make his case for India’s comeback.
Kishan last played for the Indian team in the T20Is in South Africa last year. He was a permanent member of the team in all three formats in 2023. But on the same tour, he dropped out of the team during the Test series against South Africa, which was played in December last year. He was asked to play on the domestic circuit but did not do so, prompting the BCCI to remove him from the annual contract list.
