Under-fire wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has skipped Jharkhand’s ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan in Jamshedpur. This comes after the BCCI made it mandatory for players to participate in domestic games for their state teams without representing Team India.
The BCCI reportedly informed the players about the new directive via email earlier this week. The BCCI decided that the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, as well as Ishan Kishan, faced harsh criticism for not participating in the Ranji Trophy and training privately in Baroda.
Following the BCCI directive, Ishan Kishan was expected to join the Jharkhand team for their final league match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. The game began on Friday (February 16). However, the left-handed batsman decided otherwise. As a result, Kumar Kushagra will continue to conserve the land for the state.
Ishan Kishan’s latest action will only increase the pressure on him. Several critics have questioned his attitude and commitment after he decided not to play in the Ranji Trophy despite being told that he should play for Jharkhand to be eligible for national team selection.
Ishan Kishan in touch with Rahul Dravid:
According to a CricketNext report, Ishan Kishan is in touch with India head coach Rahul Dravid. The left-hander informed Dravid of his decision and stated that he is currently concentrating on his fitness and training. Last month, Dravid had said that Ishan Kishan would have to play “some cricket” to make a comeback.
“When you are ready, I didn’t say you have to play domestic cricket, I said when you are ready you need to play some cricket and come back. The choice is yours. We didn’t force him to do anything,” Dravid had said.
He has not played for Team India since the T20I series against Australia in November last year. While he was part of the T20I and Test squads for the tour of South Africa, he did not play any matches. He also took a break from the game ahead of the Test series against the Proteas and is yet to be recalled.
Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made it clear that not only Kishan but all youngsters need to play red-ball cricket in the domestic circuit.
“He is a young man… it is not necessary to mention his name. He applies to everyone. All those who are under the contract and those who are being attacked as well. All players will have no choice but to play domestic cricket,” Shah said.
“They (the players) have already been informed by phone and I am also going to write letters telling them that if their chairman of selectors, their coach and their captain ask for it, then they will have to play red-ball cricket,” he said. aggregate.
