Ishan Kishan spends time with family, confident of India’s return: reports

Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batsman of the Indian cricket team, is currently spending some quality time with his family. He has been out of the Indian team since he withdrew from the South Africa Test series citing mental fatigue.

He was then dropped from the Indian T20I team selection for the Afghanistan series. He has been training with the Pandya brothers for the past six weeks as he eyes India’s return with the T20 World Cup on the horizon.

According to Indian Express reports, Kishan, who is currently training to improve his fitness and batting technique, is staying with his parents and nephew in a rented 2 bhk apartment. People wondered the reason for his ax in the Afghanistan and England series. However, people close to him have stated that the break has allowed him to overcome mental fatigue and anguish due to India’s defeat in the World Cup final.

“The break has done wonders for him. He has rented a flat in Vadodara. His entire family except his elder brother (Raj) who is a surgeon in Lucknow., everyone stays with him. The family fully supports him in this difficult time. He has been constantly traveling since his international debut. He always complained a lot about not being able to eat the food cooked by his mother. He now receives it three times a day. He is spending time with Viraj, his nephew, which has relaxed him a lot and he is enjoying the company of his family members,” an insider revealed.

Ishan Kishan to play in DY Patil T20 tournament and awaits India’s return

Kishan’s withdrawal from playing in the current domestic season has further prolonged his return to international cricket. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has warned top Indian cricketers that they will have to play domestic cricket to stay in contention for the IPL and the Indian team, especially with the T20 World Cup approaching.

Earlier, India head coach Rahul Dravid spoke about Ishan Kishan after he was not included in the squad for the Afghanistan T20I series. Dravid said that once he is available for selection, he will need to play domestic cricket and be eligible for selection. However, the Indian head coach later said that the management does not “force him to do anything” and he never said that he would have to play domestic cricket to return to the team.

“We don’t force him to do anything and we are in contact with him. It’s not that we’re not in touch. We know what he is, but he hasn’t started playing yet, right? So at the moment, it’s not something we would consider because, you know, he may not be ready. He decides when he wants to be ready,” Dravid told Kishan.

Meanwhile, sources close to Ishan Kishan revealed that he will play in the DY Patil T20 tournament and is considering returning to the Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup.

“He will ask for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the board. He will play for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He wants to earn his place in India’s T20 World Cup squad with a good performance in the IPL. It is a long road but the hunger to play cricket has returned and he wants to play in all three formats,” a source close to Kishan said, quoted by Indian Express.
