The former spinner of India, Anil Kumble, has opined that Karun Nair should play at number 4 in the tests after the retirement of the Kohli Virat Star batter of the format. He felt that India would require at least one batter experienced in her next Test Tour of England.
“Karun deserves to return to the Indian team with the type of domestic career he has had. So, perhaps it could be the number 4 for India because I feel you need some experience,” Cricinfo told ESPN.

After the sudden retreats of Captain Rohit Sharma and former Captain Virat Kohli, the Red Ball of India’s squad is full of young players. According to him, they need to have a player who has previous experience in playing the red ball cryket in England.
Although the batter has turned 33, he has never had many possibilities to demonstrate his abilities in the international circuit. Despite his triple century at home against England in 2016, Nair was rejected from the test team later.
“You need someone in England who has been there and did that. He has played Cricket from the County, so he knows the conditions. Karun can be on the other side of the 30, but he is still young. If he has a chance, there will be much more hope for young people to play in the first class cryket. If the performance in the domestic cricket is not recognized, a challenge becomes a bit.”
