And I told Rohit to conserve energy and go and help a leather man. And that’s what we did. I just extended myself on strike. And if I got struck on the last ball of the over, I would try to get a 4 or a 6.
“But other than that, that’s when I saw my chance to score runs. But yeah, my job was to just feed him strikes and let him do his magic. And magic was what he created that day, man. I remember he bowled a shot to Kulasekara, a wide yorker. And he just stood where he was at middle stump. And he hit it with his wrists, turned it into a full toss. “And I was just standing there, dumbfounded. I thought, ‘My God, what am I witnessing here? ‘ And it was really magical. I was just mesmerized well into the night. And he actually, I think after a moment he got uncomfortable. I thought, ‘That’s enough, man. I think there’s a certain amount of magic in that. And discovering that magic is where the fun is.
“There are teams that strive to create that magic. And then there are players, there are teams that just let it all happen. And then the magic just happens,” he concluded.
