Former Indian goalkeeper Dinesh Karthik has revealed that he once had a terrifying paranormal experience during his playing days. Karthik mentioned that he witnessed this experience during a tour of South Africa.

Karthik recently retired from international cricket after the IPL 2024 season for RCB. He also played his last match for RCB this season and the franchise has decided to appoint him as the batting coach of the team from the upcoming IPL season onwards.

In IPL 2024, Karthik was brilliant with the bat and played a key role in RCB’s run to the playoffs. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 326 runs in 13 innings of the season at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 187.35. Even at the end of his career, he showed some high-level finishing skills.

Dinesh Karthik narrates a terrifying experience during his playing days

In a video uploaded by Cricbuzz on their YouTube channel, Dinesh Karthik spoke about his experience when he was with the India A team for the tour of South Africa.

“When we stayed at Sun City, I felt something strange moving in the room at night at an odd time. I don’t know exactly what it was, but I can tell you it was a scary feeling,” Karthik said.

Karthik was young at the time and aspired to make a place for himself in the senior Indian team. He made his international debut in September 2004 against England in an ODI at Lord’s.

“I would love to exchange lives with AR Rahman” – Dinesh Karthik

In the same video, a fan asked Karthik which person he would like to swap his life with for a week. The 39-year-old chose the name of legendary singer AR Rahman because he loves his creativity. Karthik also added that he would love to read AR Rahman’s mind and what’s going on with him.

“I would love to swap lives with AR Rahman. I am his biggest fan, I have never met him, I would love to see how much creativity comes out of him. I mean, he is a genius par excellence. I have loved his music and how consistent he has been for almost three decades,” Karthik said.

“I’d love to get inside his brain and see what he’s up to. I’ve heard he works a lot at night. It’ll be a challenge, but I still wouldn’t mind getting inside his brain,” he added.

Dinesh Karthik’s last international match

Currently, Dinesh Karthik is working on the ongoing Hundred 2024 season as a commentator. He has previously been involved in the same role as well. Surprisingly, Dinesh Karthik will be playing for Paarl Royals in the upcoming SA20 season. The right-handed bowler was signed by the franchise earlier this month.

Dinesh Karthik played his last international match at the 2022 T20 World Cup against Bangladesh. He started his career as a top-order batsman but his performances dipped and he lost his place in the Indian team.

But Karthik forced his way back into the Indian team thanks to some terrific performances as a finisher. Much of the credit for this turnaround goes to Abhishek Nayar, who had a major role to play in Karthik’s comeback.
