Jasprit Bumrah cannot be conquered, says Aakash Chopra as he challenges today’s batting greats.

Aakash Chopra feels Jasprit Bumrah is a “different kind of level” after watching his performance against Afghanistan in India’s first Super 8 match of the T20 WC.

The match, which took place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, was one-sided as the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team looked too clinical. Despite suffering a top-order collapse in the first innings while batting after winning the toss, the Men in Blue bounced back nicely, thanks to man-of-the-match winner Suryakumar Yadav.

The India Vs Afghanistan Super 8 match as it was

SKY was 53 for 28 with a strike rate of almost 190, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Number 5 batsman Shivam Dube, who was expected to do his best in the difficult situation, was bowled out for just 10 runs by Afghan captain Rashid Khan. Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century was congratulated by vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who had forged a 60-run partnership with the all-round batsman.

Supportive acts from Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja towards the end helped India score 182 target after not even coming close to scoring the total. In response, Afghanistan lost too many early wickets, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s opening spell, which saw him scalp the wickets of both opening batsmen.

Jasprit Bumrah first dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 11 for 8 in the second over. In his next over (second), Bumrah literally bamboozled Hazratullah Zazai with a cut for just 2 for 4. Bumrah completed his three wickets by dismissing Najibullah Zadran for 19 for 17. Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3, 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively.

While both Arshdeep and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 wickets each, the latter’s performance was highly appreciated for his economy rate of just 1.75. The left-arm seamer, on the other hand, proved very expensive, conceding 9 runs per over to finish with figures of 3/36.

What did Aakash Chopra say about Jasprit Bumrah?

While speaking in his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra tagged Jasprit Bumrah as the glory of team India because no one can surpass him. Chopra highlighted how Bumrah got rid of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai with a caught behind and outside the cut.

Aakash Chopra termed Jasprit Bumrah’s performance as outstanding because he leaked only 7 runs in his spell of four overs and picked 3 wickets. The former Indian opening batsman concluded by saying that Bumrah is a different kind of level.

“India reached 181/8 and after that, it was India’s glory because Jasprit Bumrah was there. Nobody can beat him. Both the openers were dismissed. First Rahmanullah Gurbaz was cleaned up and then Hazratullah Zazai. One was caught behind and the other with a slower one,” Chopra said in her latest YouTube video.

“Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets. Boom Boom was absolutely outstanding. He conceded just seven runs in four overs while taking those three wickets. It’s a different kind of level,” concluded Aakash Chopra.
