Jasprit Bumrah equals South African legend Dale Steyn’s rare Test record
Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah achieved a milestone, equaling a rare record held by South African legend Dale Steyn during the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. In the seventh over of Australia’s first innings, Bumrah trapped Steve Smith lbw, sending the star batsman back for a golden duck.

With this dismissal, Bumrah became the second bowler after Dale Steyn to dismiss the iconic Australian batsman for a golden duck in Test cricket. On a lively Perth pitch, Bumrah is on fire, this was the 11th duck in Smith’s 196 Test innings and only the second time he has fallen to a golden duck, with Steyn achieving the feat in 2014.
Notably, Australia’s current score is 92/9 after 38 overs at Optus Stadium.
