Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah recently discussed the possible trip of the Indian team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Jay Shah stressed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has no official stance on travelling to the neighbouring country at the moment.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded the hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy to Pakistan.
A total of eight teams will take part in the tournament, which will be played between February and March next year. The 50-overs event will be played from February 19 to March 9.
However, the Indian team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The Men in Blue have not travelled to Pakistan in the last 16 years and did not travel for the 2023 Asia Cup either.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had to organise the Asia Cup through a hybrid model, with Sri Lanka co-hosting the event.
There is no position at this time – Jay Shah
Asked if India will travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Jay Shah said there is no official stance as of now. Shah said the decision will be taken closer to the event.
“We will not take a position for now. We will cross the bridge when the time comes,” Jay Shah was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
There will be more news later…
