Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has criticized the South Zone selection committee for not including Kerala all-rounder Jalaj Saxena in the South Zone squad for the 2023 Duleep Trophy. venkatesh prasad stated that the performances of the Ranji Trophy players are being overlooked.
Jalaj Saxena finished as the wicket-taking leader in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy in the Elite Round. The off-spin bowling all-rounder picked up 50 wickets at an economic rate of 2.75. He grabbed six five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket match hauls in the season, with a best figures of 11/102.

Venkatesh Prasad took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction over Jalaj Saxena’s absence from the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy.
“There are a lot of laughable things happening in indian cricket. The tallest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy No be chosen even For him south zone team It’s as baffling as it gets. Fair make the Ranji Trophy useless… what a shame,” Venkatesh Prasad tweeted.

Blame no one – Jalaj Saxena
Earlier, Jalaj Saxena expressed surprise at not being picked in the team, noting that the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy was not included in the team.
“The highest wicket taker in the Ranji trophy in India (Elite Group) was not picked in the Duleep trophy. Can you check if it has ever happened in Indian domestic history? Just wanted to know. without blaming anyone.” the off-spinner wrote on Twitter.
