Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra praised young batsman Rinku Singh for his impressive half-century in the second T20I against South Africa. Chopra expressed that Rinku Singh should be part of India’s T20 World Cup squad next year in the West Indies and the United States.

Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 68 off 39 deliveries in a rain-truncated game at Gqeberha on Tuesday, December 12. The left-handed batsman showcased his batting skills with nine fours and two sixes in the match. The Men in Blue posted a total of 180/7 in 19.3 overs.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, akash chopra He highlighted the importance of investing in Rinku Singh, highlighting his ability to rescue the team from challenging situations.

“Keep investing in Rinku Singh. He is now also part of the ODI team. Whoever comes or goes, stay with Rinku for the World Cup. Handle him carefully because he has scored runs when and where he has played.” Chopra said.

“Rinku Singh deserves praise. He achieved his first T20I half-century. India once again struggled when he came to bat. To be fair, it has happened two or three times in the last series that he had to bat between the eighth and eleventh overs, and it happened this time too.” he added.

Rinku Singh plays smart cricket – Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator highlighted Rinku’s effective strategy of hitting boundaries behind the wickets, emphasizing his clever shot selection while utilizing spaces.

“The way he played, he hit seven fours behind the wickets, behind point and square leg. He remains very stable and waits for the bowler to make a mistake on the line, to play behind point if he takes the ball off stump and to try to turn his body and hit a four-to-fine leg if the ball is aimed at his body. “ Chopra further stated.

“The third man and fine leg are kept in these days, or at least one of them is in, and that is a possible chance of getting a four. That is why he plays smart cricket.” He concluded.
