Many questioned the decision due to his age and form, but Rahane has been in excellent contact throughout this tournament, proving that he still has a lot to offer.
In the match, Andhra Pradesh batted first and scored a massive total of 229/4 in 20 overs. Mumbai needed a strong response, and Rahane gave just that, opening the innings with Prithvi Shaw.
Rahane’s winning innings
Rahane’s 95 runs came off just 54 balls, including nine fours and four sixes. His strike rate of 175.93 demonstrated his ability to score quickly under pressure. He played with great control and confidence, taking on the Andhra players with ease.
Unfortunately, he missed out on a century when CV Stephen dismissed him in the 18th over, but by that time he had already played an important role in setting up Mumbai’s victory.
