India’s middle-order batsman KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck in the first Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Rahul came in to bat at number 6, but could not last long as he was dismissed just on the sixth ball.
Fast bowler William O’Rourke bowled a ball that was moving outside leg stump and Rahul tried to flick it away through fine leg. But the batsman was unlucky as he found a slight tick on wicketkeeper Tom Blundell, who took a clean catch.
Rahul’s dismissal sparked a flurry of tweets on X. While some users called it a soft dismissal, some of them were highly critical of his flop show.

And the softest dismissal is KL, down the leg side!
Just lucky stuff from KL Rahul!

KL Rahul’s dismissal today was simply unacceptable! 😡
With an average of 34, it’s clear why he’s struggling. How can we expect him to perform at #3 with such poor shot selection? pic.twitter.com/AmhkPTC5Rp

The coach who taught cricket to KL Rahul in his childhood should not go unpunished.
