Earlier, India recorded their lowest team Test score at home.

During the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand, India batsman KL Rahul had a major blackout moment in the middle that seriously hurt India’s chances.

After recording the lowest-ever team Test score at home, being bowled out for just 46 runs, India would have hoped for an early breakthrough with the ball.

The opportunity came during the 13th over when New Zealand captain Tom Lathan clipped Mohammed Siraj’s delivery and the ball flew into the stands where Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were standing.

However, KL Rahul didn’t try and the ball went past him and also left Indian captain Rohit Sharma fuming.

India put on a horror batting show in the first innings

Talking about the match, India had a dismal outing with the bat. After rain washed out Day 1 of the game, India won the Day 2 toss and opted to bat first.

However, India fell to its lowest total nationally and third lowest overall. As many as five batsmen were dismissed for duck – Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.

For the Kiwis, Matt Henry and William O’Rourke were the pick of the bowlers and the pace duo shared 9 wickets between them. Tim Southee took the other remaining scalp.

At the time of writing, the Blackcaps are comfortably positioned with the scorecard reading 99 for 1 in 27 overs and Devon Conway and Will Young batting in the middle order.

The only breakthrough so far came through Kuldeep Yadav, who forced a DRS review and got the wicket of Kiwi captain Tom Latham.
