Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav provided an update on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s availability for the third Test match against England. Kuldeep Yadav expressed confidence that Ravindra Jadeja would be available for selection in the upcoming red ball match.

Ravindra Jadeja injured his hamstring while attempting a quick single during the first Test in Hyderabad. He was ruled out of the second Test match in Visakhapatnam. Although he has returned to the Indian team, his availability still depends on his fitness.

The 35-year-old displayed versatile skills during the series opener. The left-handed batsman emerged as the highest run-getter in India’s first innings, scoring 87 runs off 180 deliveries. The left-arm spin bowler secured five wickets in the two innings.

Ravindra Jadeja held a session on Monday – Kuldeep Yadav

Speaking to reporters ahead of the third Test, Kuldeep Yadav gave positive news about Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness. Kuldeep mentioned that Jadeja has been following his regular training regime, which indicates his readiness and availability for the selection.

“He is doing his routine (work). He did a session yesterday (Monday) and I think he is available,” Kuldeep said.

With experienced batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul absent, Ravindra Jadeja’s batting prowess becomes crucial for the team in the third Test. The Rohit Sharma-led team is optimistic about Jadeja’s recovery and anticipates a significant contribution in the house from him.

Not sure about my position in India’s XI – Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav refrained from confirming his participation in the upcoming Test. He highlighted his dedication to preparation and his willingness to contribute if given the opportunity, underlining the importance of team dynamics in cricket.

“I’m not sure of my position because there are still two days until the game. If I have the opportunity I will be more than happy. I don’t think much about whether I play or not. I just enjoy my day and continue working hard. That’s my process. Combination matters a lot in a team game. It’s as simple as that,” Kuldeep added.

Kuldeep appeared in the playing XI after Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the second Test. The left-arm wrist spinner picked up four wickets in both the innings. Axar Patel looked colourless, managing two wickets. Kuldeep and Axar will compete for a spot if Jadeja returns.

I haven’t played in Rank Turners – Kuldeep Yadav

In the previous Tests, the pitches offered good conditions with some assistance for the spinners, creating a balanced contest between bat and ball. Kuldeep Yadav expressed uncertainty over the pitch conditions for the upcoming Rajkot Test.

“I have no idea. I haven’t played with rank-changers. In the last series (Border Gavaskar series in February-March last year) I didn’t play at home. So, I don’t know what our approach or thinking would be. It’s basically decision from the team management. You all also want to see good cricket. For good cricket, it is important (that the wickets are good),” Kuldeep further stated.
