Sri Lanka speedster Lahiru Kumara bowled a fiery delivery that ended up breaking the bat of Proteas batsman Kagiso Rabada during the ongoing second Test of SA vs SL.
On Day 2 of the competition, Lahiru Kumara bowled a long fast delivery at 137 km/h. The ball bounced unexpectedly, hitting the top of Kagiso Rabada’s bat with enough force to break it near the handle.
This rare incident forced a brief pause in play while Rabada changed bats. The moment also lightened the mood in the middle, with Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews also sharing the laughs.
Rabada’s innings was finally interrupted by Asitha Fernando in the 23rd over after she was dismissed.

Kyle Verreynne hits unbeaten ton to help South Africa reach 358
Talking about the match, Kyle Verreynne had an exceptional performance, scoring an unbeaten 105* runs off 133 balls, studded with 12 boundaries and 3 sixes. He also formed a crucial 56-run partnership with Kagiso Rabada, propelling South Africa to post a strong first innings total of 358 runs.
Meanwhile, Lahiru Kumara emerged as Sri Lanka’s most effective bowler, posting impressive figures of 4/79.
At the time of writing this report, Sri Lanka’s batsmen have done a decent job and put the visitors in a comfortable position with the scoreboard reading 159 for 2 in 47.3 overs with Pathum Nissanka and Angelo Mathews currently at the crease.
Both teams badly need a win in this test match to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. Now that South Africa have already achieved a dominant victory in the first Test, they are determined to complete the series sweep now.
