Emerging Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal showed a glimpse of his batting prowess across three formats in his brief international career. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a remarkable double century during the ongoing third Test match against the England team in Rajkot.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double century in Test cricket as the hosts declared their second innings with a score of 430/4 on Sunday, February 18. The home team set an improbable target of 557 for the visitors in the final innings of the ongoing red-ball match.
The 22-year-old retired injured on 104 runs on the third day due to back spasms. The left-handed batsman returned to the field after Shubman Gill was dismissed due to an unfortunate 91-run stand. He continued his innings and showed no signs of discomfort.
The left-handed opening batsman finished his innings with an unbeaten 214 runs off 236 balls, aided by 14 boundaries and 12 sixes. Jaiswal also became the third Indian batsman to score a double hundred in consecutive Test matches after Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli.

Yashasvi Jaiswal first caught attention during the 2020 U-19 World Cup, where she amassed 400 runs. Since then, he has impressed with his performances in the IPL and domestic leagues. He made his Test debut for India against the West Indies last year.
The Mumbai batsman grabbed the opportunity and scored a century on his debut in Dominica. The young player accumulated 171 runs off 381 balls in his first innings. He regained form in the ongoing matches after facing difficulties in scoring against South Africa.

Jaiswal’s spectacular double century was complemented by Sarfaraz Khan’s remarkable batting performance on his Test debut. Sarfaraz, who scored 62 runs in the first innings, further showcased his talent with an unbeaten 68 off 72 deliveries in the second innings.
Sarfaraz Khan added an unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership of 172 runs with Jaiswal. The 26-year-old batsman became the fourth Indian, along with Dilawar Hussain, Sunil Gavaskar and Shreyas Iyer, to score fifty-plus in both innings during his Test debut.
During their chase, England faced early setbacks, with Ben Duckett dismissed for 4 and Zak Crawley for 11, leaving them at 18/2 for tea on day 4. The English team’s woes continued after tea, as they lost three more wickets, collapsing. at 50/5 in 22 overs.
