Former Indian national cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid will soon be back in action as the head coach of a team. The former national team captain was appointed as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the mega auction.

Rahul Dravid has been the head coach of the Indian national cricket team for the past few years. The former captain of the team left the team after the 2024 T20 World Cup, which the Rohit Sharma-led team won under his leadership by beating South Africa in the final of the tournament in Barbados.

After his tenure with the Indian national cricket team ended, he was in the news and there were reports that he would take up a role in the Indian Premier League. Although it was only the Rajasthan Royals that were in the news, the recent report by Cricbuzz suggested something different.

It was reportedly learnt that some of the high-profile franchises of the Indian Premier League were keen to hand over a blank cheque to Dravid to work with them. However, the former head coach of the Indian national cricket team remained loyal to Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he played for.

Rajasthan Royals acquired Dravid from the Indian Premier League in 2011 and after that, he captained the team in 2012 and 2013. After his retirement, he became the team’s mentor and director of cricket in 2014 and 2015. However, after that franchise was banned, he moved to Delhi Capitals where he remained until 2018.

Rahul Dravid, one of the brightest minds in cricket, will be a decisive factor for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. The head coach would want to turn the team’s fortunes around and help them win their second title, having won the first one in 2008.

Rahul Dravid had a successful stint as the head coach of the Indian national cricket team. He made the team consistent across all three formats as they reached the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup and then also reached the final of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship and the 2023 ICC World Cup before winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
