Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be aiming for another brilliant season in IPL 2024. The franchise has reached the playoffs for the last two seasons. However, they lost the playoffs in both seasons and failed to reach the final.
In IPL 2024, LSG will try to go one step further and reach the final this time in order to steal the trophy. KL Rahul is the captain of Lucknow Super Giants. However, due to injury, he missed half of the tournament last season.
LSG finished in third place in the points table after the league phase. Out of 14 matches, LSG won 8 games and lost 5. Their only match was washed out by rain and ended without result. LSG scored 17 points, level with second-placed Chennai Super Kings. However, LSG lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match and were eliminated from the final race.

Marcus Stoinis was a standout player for the Lucknow Super Giants last season. He managed 408 runs in 15 games at an average of 31+. He also smashed 3 fifties to finish as the team’s leading run-getter. Next on the list was Kyle Mayers, who totaled 379 runs in 13 games with his bat. Nicholas Pooran scored 358 runs in 15 matches.
Among the bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi took the most wickets in the team with 16 scalps. He also recorded a wonderful economy of just 7+. Yash Thakur was another impressive bowler with 13 wickets. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up 11 wickets for the team. Mark Wood could only feature in 4 games due to injury, but added 11 wickets to his tally.
Lucknow Super Giants released 8 players from their team ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat and Karun Nair were some of the players the franchise released from the squad. LSG had the least amount of funds available in the auction.

During the IPL 2024 auction, LSG signed 6 players for their squad. Shivam Mavi was their most expensive pick at Rs. 6.40 crores. LSG also brought in M Siddharth for Rs. 2.40 crore and David Willey for Rs. 2 crores.
Ashton Turner, Arshin Kulkarni and Mohd. Arshad Khan were the other three players that LSG selected during the auction. LSG also made a trade with Rajasthan Royals. They have added left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal in their team for the upcoming season.
Lucknow Super Giants have been impressive in both the seasons so far. They made the playoffs in their first season in 2022. They also made the playoffs in the 2023 season. However, in both seasons, LSG failed to reach the finals by losing the Eliminator clash.
KL Rahul missed a lot of matches last season due to injury. He was ruled out of the tournament midway through the tournament. Despite losing their captain, LSG made it to the playoffs. With the return of KL Rahul, LSG will be much stronger in IPL 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) full schedule for IPL 2024
The BCCI is yet to release the schedule for IPL 2024. The Indian Cricket Board will release the schedule in February or March 2024. The tournament could start a week earlier this year due to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
