Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Wicktkeeper-Batter MS Dhoni recently shared his thoughts about the impact player rule in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings veteran (CSK) MS Dhoni does not support the use of impact players in India Premier League (IPL). The rule was introduced into the IPL in 2023 and allows the teams to replace a player in the field with a player in the bank. The rule is similar to football substitutions.
There have been several shocking performances of impact players in the IPL. The undefeated 66 of Ashutosh Sharma for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, which helped DC to obtain a miraculous victory of a wicket, is the last example. However, several players, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have criticized the rule, and the latter alleges that it could be disadvantageous for the development of all the bodiators.

“When this rule was implemented, I felt that it was not really necessary at that time. In a way, it helps me, but at the same time, I do not do my wickt, so I am not an impact player. I have to be involved in the game,” said the former pattern of CSK during a show in Jiohotstar.

“It is not that the four or five additional batters are used, it is only the confidence of having them. This is how Crickt T20 has evolved,” said the 43 -year -old man.

Mrs. Dhoni has represented Chennai Super Kings throughout her IPL career since 2008, except for two seasons in 2016 and 2017 when CSK was prohibited due to the spots fixing scandal.
