Mark Wood

England national cricket team player Ollie Robinson praised the energy of his teammate Mark Wood. He recalled a story from the 2023 Ashes series against the Australian national cricket team, and said that the fast bowler turned into a dog and infused energy into everyone.

England cricketer Mark Wood is one of the best players to have ever played for the Three Lions. He is arguably one of the fastest bowlers in the world and the kind of impact he has had on the team is something that not even many greats of the game have had during their career.

Mark Wood was one of the shining lights for England in The Ashes 2023. The fast bowler, with his fiery pace bowling, put Australia’s batsmen in trouble and brought his team back into the game many times, helping them win and end the series in a draw by the margin of 2-2.

Mark Wood did not play all the Ashes matches. The right-handed bowler played three matches but it was enough for him to make an impact. The fast bowler took 14 wickets and helped the England National Cricket Team come out on top and win two matches in the series after being down in the series.

Wood was one of the main factors behind England’s comeback in the Ashes. In the third Test match, the fast bowler took seven wickets at Headingley, including 5 for 34 in the first innings. The bowler was highly praised for his heroics and was even touted as the main reason for England’s success.

Ollie Robinson has spoken about Mark Wood’s impact in the last Ashes. He revealed how the fast bowler turned into a dog 10 minutes before the start of play, highlighting the energy. Speaking to Wisden, he explained:

“Woody has this crazy, unique energy. There’s no one like him. You think he’s drunk half the time, but he doesn’t drink a drop. You have to consider that this is a guy who, ten minutes before we came out, literally at 10:50 in the morning, was on all fours barking on the locker room floor saying, ‘There’s a dog in the locker room. There’s a dog in here, guys. ‘”

Mark Wood was last seen in action during a Test against the West Indies

The last time we saw Mark Wood in action was during the Test series against the West Indies national cricket team. He was again the main factor in his team winning the series by a 3-0 margin and starting the English summer on a good note.

Wood grabbed headlines with the speed with which he bowled. The bowler hit a top speed of 97.1 mph, which was the fastest pitch in a Test match in England. He made the West Indies batsmen dance to his tune and helped his team complete the shutout.

Wood finished with 9 wickets in the series, including five wickets in the last Test. He will be seen in action again when the England National Cricket Team takes on the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in the three-match Test series, which will begin on August 21.
