Prithvi Shaw’s exclusion from the Mumbai squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has not gone down well with the batsman and has even raised eyebrows, but his snub was not surprising given his recent struggles with the bat in domestic competitions.

The Mumbai batsman was dropped from the Ranji Trophy team just two months ago, and now his fate has been no different as he is once again shown the door for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The young opener, who had been quiet through all the talk, finally broke his silence at his snub.

Reacting to his omission, Prithvi Shaw took to social media and bluntly shared his A-List stats in an Instagram story. He posted: “Tell me, God, what else do I have to see? If 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I’m not good enough… but I’ll keep my faith in you. , and I hope people still believe in me… because I will surely return. Now, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has reacted to the entire situation as his career seems to be in the dark. Behind the scenes, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the team management are not impressed with Prithvi Shaw’s fitness and discipline, and these issues are holding him back.

His performance in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 was lackluster, where Shaw failed to make an impact despite Mumbai clinching the title. In nine innings, the 25-year-old couldn’t even reach 200 runs, averaging less than 25 and constantly falling short while facing the new ball.

Meanwhile, a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source revealed that Prithvi Shaw has been dropped from the team due to fitness and performance issues. While his talent is well recognized, the source emphasized that Shaw needs to focus on improving his fitness, discipline and overall performance.

He added that the Indian batsman’s fitness problem is visible to everyone and his body is showing signs of needing attention. The MCA hope he addresses these areas and comes back strong as they believe he has the potential but must do the work necessary to realize it.

You need to work on your physical condition, discipline and performance: MCA

An MCA source was quoted by Hindustan Times: “The concern about fitness is there, but performance is also not there currently. He needs to work on his physical condition, discipline and performance. The main issue is fitness. You see the games. You get the picture, right? Just by looking at his frame, the fitness issues are there for everyone to see. We hope you work on these issues and come back strong. We all know his talent. “It’s just about him putting in the effort.”

Earlier, Mumbai White team captain Shreyas Iyer said that they can’t take care of anyone and every professional player needs to know what to do. Iyer has noticed that Shaw has to concentrate, sit down and then figure it out himself since no one can make him do anything.
