Kamalini is a 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman who also bowls useful leg-spinners.

The WPL 2025 auction came into limelight after Mumbai Indian Women bought G Kamalini for INR 1.60 crore. It kept its base price at INR 10 Lakhs, and the bidding war began between the Indian women of Mumbai and the capital cities of Delhi before the former finally took over.

Kamalini is a 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman who also bowls useful leg-spinners. In the recently concluded national tournaments he was in excellent form.

She is a powerful batsman from Tamil Nadu, the second highest run-scorer in the national Under-19 tournament, scoring 311 runs at an average of 62.20 and a strike rate of 123.90 in eight innings. Kamalini also hit fifty and hundred in the competition and amassed the most sixes (10).

She was vital in leading Tamil Nadu to the tournament title. Later, he scored 79 runs in India B’s Under-19 tri-series final against South Africa A to help his team win.

He trained at the Super Kings Academy, where he honed his skills in finding gaps and pushing limits. Following his magnificent performances, Kamalini earned a place in the U-19 Asia Cup team and started the competition strongly.

In the first game of the tournament, he scored 44 runs off 29 deliveries, including four boundaries and three maximums, at a strike rate of 151.72. This knock earned her the Player of the Match award as India U-19 defeated Pakistan U-19 by nine wickets.

Her ability to find ropes and clear with sheer power makes her a solid option for the Mumbai Indian women. He has scored runs almost everywhere and has shown maturity beyond his years.

His acquisition at such a high rate shows that MI-W is looking for a long-term solution and adding another powerful hitter to the team. The team already has some big names and the youngster will learn a lot from them and grow more.

The fact that she can bat at a high strike rate, bowl accurately and keep wickets makes her an ideal option in the shortest format. This is just the beginning for Kamalini and given the amount of his talent, it seems certain that he will achieve bigger things in the future.
