Mumbai Indians (MI) played quite well at the end of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The 67th match of the tournament between both teams is being played at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians opted to field first and got off to a solid start with the ball as they picked three early wickets and left Lucknow Super Giants reeling at 69/3. They were on top with the ball at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, but after that, they were under pressure.

Nicholas Pooran (75) changed the course of the game with his brutal batting in the middle order. He took the attack to the Mumbai Indians bowlers as he came out with all his guns and along with KL Rahul (55), brought his team back into the game at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The duo added 109 runs in partnership but after that, Nuwan Untilhara and Piyush Chawla came together and brought Mumbai Indians back into the game. Not only did they do it, but the Hardik Pandya-led team also completed a team hattrick at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Nuwan Untilhara removed Nicholas Pooran on the fifth ball of the 17th over. The batsman tried to hit the bowler out of the park but was caught by Suryakumar Yadav on the boundary ropes. On the next ball, the pacer sent Arshad Khan packing too to take two for two wickets.

The quick bowled a full delivery that went wide. Arshad Khan went towards loft, but the ball caught the tip of the bat and rose towards the sky. Nehal Wadhera went to his left from cover. Even though he dropped it the first time, he held the rebound.

On the first ball of the next over, Piyush Chawla removed KL Rahul. The Lucknow Super Giants captain took a great sweep and the ball caught the top edge and went straight to the fielder at short fine leg as Mumbai Indians took three wickets in three balls.

Similar situation to those I have been in over the years: Nicholas Pooran after his innings.

Nicholas Pooran spoke about the innings and stated that he has been in similar situations many times in his career and also spoke about his six-hitting ability. He admitted that they have achieved a good result and wants the players to enjoy themselves. He added:

“Similar situation to the ones I have had over the years. I have been training a lot and practicing a lot of sixes. It’s good that I have talent in that. I always have fun and I want to be the best version of myself.

“We need to understand where the game is going and how everyone else plays too. Today is about enjoying and having fun, there is not much to tell the players. It is about executing our plans. I would very much like this to be a good result” , he concluded.
