Michael Atherton warns England about Yashasvi Jaiswal as batsman hits James Anderson for a hat-trick of six

Former England Captain Michael Atherton considers Yashasvi Jaiswal to be a modern T20I player who is adapting very well to Test cricket and believes the youngster has the ability and technique to do so. Atherton also stated that ben stokes and company. They will have to find a way to stop Jaiswal from scoring more double centuries for fun if they want to return to the series.

Yesterday’s call to the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, where India scored a 434-run victory over the English contingent, it was perhaps the best we have seen from Yashasvi Jaiswal in his career so far. Yesterday’s double century from him was the second time he had done so in this series and was also his third score of 150+ in Test cricket since he debuted in July 2023 during a 2-match series in the Caribbean.

Jaiswal had announced himself on the world stage with an emphatic 171 in his debut innings before hitting 57 in the second Test. The only time he failed to score runs was in South Africa last month, where he posted scores of 17, 5, 0 and 28 in the two Tests at Centurion and Cape Town. To some extent, he was forgiven because the conditions were too difficult for batting and it was also the first time he played in those conditions against a formidable team like that.

But in the ongoing five-match Test series against England, which is also his debut red-ball series at home, Yashasvi Jaiswal has moved to a different level. He showed glimpses of that in Hyderabad, scoring a total of 95 innings in Hyderabad, where India lost by 28 runs.

However, in the second Test, the 22-year-old scored a marvelous 209 at Vishakhapatnam and scored another at Rajkot yesterday. On both occasions, India but Jaiswal won hearts and England seamer James Anderson, 41, is among those already enamored of his style after being hit for three sixes in a row yesterday.

“A fantastic young player. I haven’t seen him much in Test cricket. England fans didn’t see much of him before the series, but they have now seen enough to know that he is a special young talent. Very hungry for racing. He hits the ball very far, he is a powerfully built boy. “He is a modern T20 player who is adapting to Test cricket and has the technique.” – Anderson said via Sky Sports.

“When he comes in, he has every chance,” Atherton on Yashasvi Jaiswal giving Jimmy Anderson a headache

Michael Atherton claimed that he had rarely seen James Anderson treated like this after Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 3 consecutive sixes in Anderson’s over. For the record, Jaiswal is only the second player since George Bailey in the 2013 Ashes to hit a big 3 off the Englishman’s over.

“When he comes in, he has all the possibilities. Jimmy Anderson is rarely treated with as much disdain as he was this afternoon when he was attacked for those three consecutive sixes. So he is a very dangerous player and England need to find a way to catch him early if he can.” – Atherton told Sky Sports Cricket.
