Michael Vaughan accuses India of copying England’s ‘Bazball’ style

Former England national cricket team cricketer Michael Vaughan has taken a cheeky jibe at the Indian national cricket team after their heroics with the bat. This comes after the Rohit Sharma-led team made a killing with the bat during the ongoing second Test against the Bangladesh national cricket team.

As Dinesh Karthik said on air, “We are witnessing Test cricket on steroids,” the batsmen of the Indian National Cricket Team were all over the Bangladeshi players. This came as the hosts looked eager to achieve a result after the first three days of play were almost washed out by rain.

After ending Bangladesh’s innings with 233 runs, Rohit Sharma and his team were on a mission. They had already decided that they would play T20 cricket for the whites. This message was sent loudly when Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed three boundaries in the first over, and Rohit Sharma came out on the first ball to hit it for a huge six.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma went berserk from the start and showed no respect for the new ball. While the team captain was back in the cabin after scoring 23 off 11 balls, Jaiswal finished with 72 runs off 52 balls as the team flew away.

Their joyful partnership saw the hosts reach the 50-run mark in just 3 overs. This also saw them record the world record as it was the fastest half-century by any team in the history of the longest format of the game. Even after their partnership, the carnage did not stop as the batsmen went all guns blazing.

Shubman Gill, at number 3, occupied one end and played a vital innings of 39 runs. But the main men were Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. The duo made sure to score quick runs in the middle and helped the team take a lead in the first innings at Green Park in Kanpur.

Rahul scored a magnificent half-century and finished with 68 runs off 43 balls. While Virat Kohli, on the other hand, finished with 47 runs off 35 balls. Based on Akash Deep’s vital effort with the bat and knocks at the end, India posted a total of 285 runs on the board, taking a lead of 52 runs.

Not only the fastest fifty, but he also recorded the fastest century in the history of Test cricket. They made a century in 10.1 overs and surpassed their own record. They had registered 100 in 12.2 overs during the match against the West Indies in 2023.

I see India is playing Bazball – Michael Vaughan on India

While Rohit and his team played with an aggressive mindset, former England national team cricketer Michael Vaughan was amazed by what they were playing. He compared his style of play to Bazball and said, “I see India is playing Bazball.”

After taking the lead by 52 runs, they made sure to get two wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin bagged them both as Bangladesh finished Day 4 at 26/2.
