Delhi Capitals could miss the services of their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for a good number of matches in the ongoing IPL 2024. The Australian all-rounder reportedly returned home to treat his hamstring tear.
He suffered the injury while bowling during the game between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3. He later came out to bat and was dismissed for a duck. Mitchell Marsh has not played for Delhi Capitals since then as he missed the matches against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
Last week, Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre gave a worrying update on Mitchell Marsh’s injury, saying: “He has gone for a scan and the physios will give us a report within a week.
“Then we will know what the exact situation is. If you can [play the entire season] It depends on the reports or not,” Amre added in his interaction with the media after the loss against Mumbai Indians.
Mitchell Marsh returns home:
It appears that Mitchell Marsh’s injury is serious. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the Australian all-rounder has returned home to treat his injury. The media outlet claimed that Cricket Australia decided to withdraw the player after coordinating with Delhi Capitals. He has suffered a partial tear in his right hamstring and will return to India only after making a full recovery.
With the World T20 taking place in June this year, Australia will not be taking any risks with the player. Mitchell Marsh is in line to lead the team in the main event and Australia expect him to make a full recovery soon. As a result, it won’t be too surprising if Mitchell Marsh doesn’t play in the IPL again this year.
Before the injury setback, Mitchell Marsh failed to make much of an impression in the IPL. In four matches he obtained scores of 20, 23, 18 and 0. With the ball he only managed a solitary wicket. Speaking of DC, they won two of their first five games and are currently languishing in ninth place on the points table.
