Mohammad Hafeez launches brutal criticism of PCB after not being invited to board meeting

Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has launched a brutal criticism at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the recent meeting organised by the PCB to discuss the team’s dismal campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The meeting was attended by PCB members and several former and current Pakistan cricketers.

The meeting was chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on July 9 at a hotel in Mall Road, Lahore. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the future of Pakistan cricket and take suggestions from former cricketers, which can help in improving the structure of cricket in the country.

More than fifteen former and current international cricketers are believed to have participated in the meeting and offered several recommendations that can help improve the national structure in Pakistan. But one name that was absent from the meeting was Mohammad Hafeez.

Mohammad Hafeez slams PCB after not being invited to board meeting

Mohammad Hafeez slammed the PCB for not inviting him and not taking his suggestions seriously. The former Pakistan captain had earlier expressed his concerns over Pakistan’s lack of fitness and discipline, which he wanted to improve as the team manager.

Sports journalist Aalia Rasheed had posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the dire state of Pakistan cricket which Mohammad Hafeez tried to improve as the team manager.

“@MHafeez22 expressed his concern over the lack of physical preparation and discipline. As a team manager, he desperately wanted the Pakistan team to follow international standards of professionalism. Alas! The new president never invited him to discuss the issues and his ideas,” Aalia Rasheed posted on X.

While replying to Aalia Rasheed on X, Hafeez posted on X: “We live in a society where **Abdullah ki baat Samajh nahee aate aur Micheal & Tom sab such kahta hai**.”

Some of the cricketers who were present at the meeting were Ijaz Ahmed, Salman Butt, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sikandar Bakht, Basit Ali, Azhar Khan, Intikhab Alam, Shafiq Papa, Asim Kamal, Mohammad Sami, Haroon Rasheed, Yasir Hameed, Saleem Altaf, Yasir Shah and Wajahatullah Wasti.

Pakistan had poor results under team manager Mohammad Hafeez

A few months ago, Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as Pakistan’s Director of Cricket. Following Pakistan’s poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they failed to qualify for the semi-finals, Hafeez was appointed to the post.

The former Pakistan captain even travelled with the national team to Australia for the Test series as the interim coach. Pakistan lost the series 0-3 to the home team. After a poor season in Australia and New Zealand, Hafeez was sacked from the post in February 2024.
