Pakistan wicketkeeper and batsman Mohammad Rizwan has made an important statement regarding the current situation of the Pakistan National Cricket Team. The veteran batsman admitted that there are many things that are not right at present and that is why they missed the 2024 T20 World Cup.
In what was the worst campaign, Pakistan team had a torrid showing at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side could not take off at all as they played poor cricket throughout and that led to their early exit from the tournament, at the USA leg.
Pakistan did not have a great start to the tournament as they lost to the United States of America which in itself was a huge disappointment. The Men in Green lost the match in the Super Over and faced a lot of criticism for losing to the associate nation despite being the finalists of the last T20 World Cup.
Pakistan was expected to perform better in the next match but the same thing happened. They played better cricket in the match against India but could not win the match as the Indian bowlers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
With two consecutive defeats in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Pakistan was under a lot of pressure and their qualification for the Super 8 depended on the result of the match between the United States of America and the Irish National Cricket Team. But the match ended in a draw and meant the end for the Babar Azam-led team.
Pakistan suffered an early elimination from the 2024 T20 World Cup and received a lot of criticism. Also, there were many reports claiming that things were not well in the Pakistan dressing room as the players did not get along with each other.
Mohammad Rizwan, speaking about Pakistan’s campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup, stated that a lot of things go wrong when a team loses. He made a shocking statement saying that things were not right in the team. Speaking to the media, he explained:
“When the team loses, a lot of things go wrong, so you lose. It’s not like that in individual sports, because in individual sports you can lose a match. But being eliminated from a tournament means that you have a lot of problems in many aspects, which are not being detected.”

Speaking about Pakistan’s poor campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Mohammad Rizwan said that it is difficult for them to point out where they went wrong as they performed poorly overall. He explained:
“Because if you look at it, sometimes we don’t finish well, sometimes our powerplay doesn’t go well, sometimes our death bowling doesn’t go well, sometimes our powerplay doesn’t go well.
“That’s why when a team wins, it plays well at the end of the match. We can’t say what our mistake was, but we can say that, as a team, none of us played up to our expectations,” he concluded.
