Indian national cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami is about to be in top form ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As per RevSportz reports, the fast bowler is known to be back bowling in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) nets.

Shami was seen bowling in the nets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after the conclusion of the Day 2 game between India and New Zealand. Reports claimed that the fast bowler started the session with warm-up runs and then proceeded to bowl for several minutes.

Mohammed Shami started bowling with a short lead-up.

Shami started bowling with a short run and then started extending it. The pacer was then seen bowling with a strap that looked like a crepe bandage on his left knee, which had suffered swelling a few days ago ahead of the ongoing first Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

Reports claimed that Shami increased his speed and was bowling at almost half his usual speed. He maintained the same speed for the next 2-3 overs he delivered. After the short drink break, he measured his entire run with a tape and also increased his intensity.

Troy Cooley, the NCA fast bowling coach, was keenly watching Mohammed Shami and also Nitin Patel, head of sports science and medicine at the National Cricket Academy, closely following Shami’s bowling action. The pacer then bowled at full speed and looked good with his pace and action.

Shami was seen having brief conversations with Cooley and Patel, with the fast bowling coach applauding the pacer after some particularly quick deliveries. Although he played at full speed, his throwing intensity was not the same as what we have seen from him..

Mohammed Shami participated in a 20-minute session

Reports claimed that Shami participated in a 20-minute session. The fast bowler’s resumption of bowling will be a big boost for the Indian national cricket team ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which begins on November 22 in Perth.

Then, RevSportz reports also claimed that Shami will need approximately six weeks to fully recover from his knee injury. The development was confirmed by NCA sources, and it was also revealed that the fast bowler is yet to be completely ruled out for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Mohammed Shami has been out of action since the ICC World Cup 2023 concluded

Mohammed Shami has been out of action since the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023. The fast bowler suffered an ankle injury during the tournament and subsequently underwent surgery for the same. He was all set to return during the New Zealand series.

But before the series, he experienced swelling in his knee. Captain Rohit Sharma confirmed the same and said he was on the verge of regaining his full form but faced a fresh setback. He also mentioned that there is no clarity if the pacer will be fit for the Frontera-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
