Legendary cricketer MS Dhoni lost his temper after Chennai Super Kings’ bitter defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024 group stage match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was a do-or-die match for both teams and in the end RCB won.

The journalist claimed that it was former India player Harbhajan Singh who informed him that Dhoni broke the television on his way back to the dressing room after being dismissed. MS Dhoni was dismissed for 25 off 13 balls in the final over and his wicket changed the momentum in RCB’s favour.

MS Dhoni broke TV after CSK’s loss to RCB in IPL 2024

An Indian journalist named Sushant Mehta claimed that MS Dhoni broke the TV after CSK’s loss to RCB in match 68 of IPL 2024. He mentioned that Dhoni pressured him with something hard. Harbhajan Singh gave him the information about Dhoni breaking the TV.

“I got an exclusive scoop. I asked Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) paaji why (MS) Dhoni didn’t shake hands (with the RCB players). He said that not only did he not shake hands, he also broke a television. He also hit something on the way back and was very angry for missing (his shot),” the journalist said.

MS Dhoni had bad reasons in this game for not shaking hands with the opposing team after the match. However, he was later seen shaking hands with RCB players outside the dressing room.

MS Dhoni’s dismissal turned the match in favor of RCB

With 17 needed in the last over, MS Dhoni was on strike against Yash Dayal. Dhoni was expected to finish the game given his recent batting form and the favorable batting conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

He even hit a six on the first ball of the last over to change the equation to 11 needed from 5 balls. At that time, Dhoni was the favorite to win the match for CSK as he had also finished many close matches in the past.

But bowler Yash Dayal kept his composure and bowled a slower backhander heading outside off. Dhoni went for another big shot but could only hit the ball towards backward square leg, where Swapnil Singh completed a good catch under pressure.

RCB qualifies for playoffs; CSK out of tournament

The Chinnaswamys found their voice again as they continued to cheer for their home team. Meanwhile, CSK fans were disappointed when MS Dhoni returned to the pavilion. It was the last time fans could witness Dhoni in IPL 2024 as CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs.

CSK lost the match by 27 runs in the end, while RCB made it to the playoffs after a historic comeback. They won seven matches in a row to qualify for the next stage, but lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Playoff.
