Delhi and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Simarjeet Singh, 26, claimed that MS Dhoni has the biggest mind when it comes to T20 cricket and no other player knows more about the format than the CSK legend.

MS Dhoni is the most successful captain of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has guided the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL titles. He relinquished the captaincy for the second time just ahead of IPL 2024 and handed over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Overall, he led CSK and RPS in the Indian Premier League and won 133 out of 226 matches at a win percentage of 59.37. He is also the only captain to have won more than 100 matches in the league. Not only that, MS Dhoni was also a great T20I captain for India as he won 41 out of 72 matches and led the team to triumph in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Looking at all these achievements of master tactician MS Dhoni, Simarjeet Singh claimed that no player, not even Rohit Sharma, knows more about T20 cricket than Dhoni. In an interview with Press Trust of India, Simarjeet said:

“MS Dhoni helped me develop into a better T20 bowler. I don’t think anyone knows more about T20 cricket than him.”

MS Dhoni has taught me a lot – Simarjeet Singh

Simarjeet Singh added that Dhoni has taught him a lot of things and he is always ready to help him. He also spoke about learning from international cricketers when they come to participate in domestic cricket and the IPL.

“He (MS Dhoni) has taught me a lot; he has not helped me with just one thing. We constantly ask him for advice and he always simplifies things by saying that playing cricket in a simple way is the best way to play the game,” he added.

“I just want to learn and when senior Indian players come to play local cricket, we learn a lot from them,” he said.

Although Simarjeet Singh has had some good performances for the Chennai Super Kings, there is no guarantee that the franchise will retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. While speaking about the mega auction, he said that he does not care which team picks him, he just wants to play cricket.

“I just want to play cricket, wherever I go, whatever franchise I am chosen by, I just want to play and grow as a cricketer,” he said.

Speaking further about Dhoni, the CSK legend is yet to confirm his availability for the 2025 Indian Premier League but has clearly stated that he will take a decision based on what is best for Chennai Super Kings.

Notably, there are reports claiming that CSK would retain Dhoni as a non-cap player as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to reinstate an old rule for retired cricketers, which was abolished a few years ago after not being used for years.
