Daryl Mitchell was left embarrassed and had to run the entire length of the field alone twice after MS Dhoni decided not to run in the ongoing game between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The incident took place in the latter part of CSK’s innings when MS Dhoni was facing left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. Before the end, the former CSK captain faced five balls and managed to score only three runs. Arshdeep started with a wide one before MS Dhoni hit him for a four.
The second ball was a point. It was followed by a wide before MS Dhoni decided to keep the shot and returned it to Daryl Mitchell. On the third ball of the over, Arshdeep bowled a low delivery and the former India captain hit the ball towards deep cover.
As soon as he fired, Daryl Mitchell went for a single without realizing that MS Dhoni was not in the mood to rotate the strike. When the New Zealand batsman realized what was happening, he was standing next to his CSK teammate on the striker’s side. The right-handed batsman quickly turned around to return inside the crease on the non-striker’s end.
Meanwhile, the fielder picked up the ball and rushed to the stumps. However, he missed and Mitchell managed to return to the area.
Watch how MS Dhoni refuses to run:
Poor Dary Mitchell had no feelings for him… Dhobi is not only a criminal but also the biggest attention seeker.

Mitchell did not face any deliveries in the finale. Incidentally, MS Dhoni was run out on the last ball of the over while trying to hit a double. Talking about the game, CSK ended their innings on 162 for 7. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad once again led his team from the front, scoring 62 off 42 balls. No other CSK batsman could reach the 30-run mark. At the time of writing this report, PBKS were 30 for 1 in the fifth over.
