Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa praised Rohit Sharma before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He said that the Indian captain has learned many nuances from MS Dhoni and is a very confident person.
Rohit Sharma has been one of the best batsmen to have played for both India and the Indian Premier League. In the last decade, he has become the backbone of the Indian team and is even leading the team incredibly well.
Apart from his heroics for the Indian team, Rohit Sharma has been a stalwart in the IPL. He started his career with Deccan Chargers and then became an integral part of the Mumbai Indians before taking over the leadership of the team in 2013. Since he took over the leadership, he has become a completely different beast.
Rohit Sharma guided Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and is also the team’s leading run-getter in the IPL. It is one of the main reasons for the team’s dominance in the league. Apart from that, he also led his team to the Champions League with a victory.
In the upcoming IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma will play as a pure batsman for Mumbai Indians. He was removed as captain of the franchise, which handed over the leadership to Hardik Pandya. The tournament will start March 22nd and all eyes will be on the senior batsman.
Robin Uthappa, while talking about Rohit Sharma’s legacy in the IPL, stated that the former Mumbai Indians captain is a confident person and indifference is his way of life.
Robin Uthappa added that Rohit Sharma learned a lot from MS Dhoni and then added a touch of his own. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he explained:
“We must also remember that he had been part of the Deccan Chargers that won the IPL in 2009. He had an idea of what it takes to win. He was an integral part of that side as well. One thing about Rohit is that he is a very confident person. Indifference is a way of life for him.
“As a leader, he learned many nuances from MS (Dhoni). But he has added his own touch to it and made it his own. He is not afraid to show his emotions on the field. He is very unique to Rohit. “It’s just something he does.”
Rohit Sharma is very intense, but very informal – Zaheer Khan
Zaheer Khan, who was also present during the discussion, also said that Rohit Sharma is intense but seems very casual. He added that the Indian captain has a good tactical understanding of the game. He explained:
“Rohit is very intense, but very casual. Being informal makes it approachable. But he is very intense when he goes about his business and prepares. That’s something he plays brilliantly to his advantage. He has a very good tactical understanding of the game.”
