Young Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan is all set to be included in the India A setup after his heroics in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy. As per PTI reports, it is learnt that the right-hander will travel to Australia with the A team for the three ‘four-day’ Tests against Australia A.

Musheer Khan has been one of the most talked about names in Indian cricket over the past few days. This is because the young batsman put in a mammoth effort with the bat in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy while playing for India B in the match against India A.

Musheer Khan’s effort came in a high-pressure situation. He put in a solid performance as his team lost 7 wickets for just 100 runs. The 19-year-old absorbed all the pressure and scored a glorious century that put his team in a position to win.

Musheer Khan finished with an innings of 181 runs off 373 balls. The right-hander hit 16 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His impressive batting propelled his team to a total of 321 runs and then eventually helped them win the game by 76 runs and get the all-important 6 points.

Musheer also registered the third-highest score as a teenager in the Ranji Trophy. He now has the third-highest score by a teenager in the 2024 Duleep Trophy. Baba Indrajith remains at the top with his 212 runs, while Yash Dhull is second on the list with 193 runs to his name.

Musheer, who scored a double hundred in the Ranji quarter-finals and a century in the final, He is almost certain to be in India’s A squad for the tour of Australia. Reports claimed that the squad would be selected based on performances in the Duleep Trophy and the Iran Cup match between Rest of India and Ranji champions Mumbai.

It is also reported that Musheer Khan’s ability to thrive under pressure and register big scores in big games in the Ranji Trophy final and against a quality attack comprising of Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan has impressed the selectors and this has also worked in his favour.

Not only that, but Musheer has also impressed the selectors with his temperament of playing 373 balls (62.1 overs off 116 overs) along with his ability to build partnerships with the late spinner (Navdeep Saini). The batsman added over 100 runs in partnership with the fast bowler in the 2024 Duleep Trophy and took the Team to over 300 runs.

Reports also claimed that along with Musheer, Rajasthan left-arm spinner Manav Suthar also impressed the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.BCCI is considering him as Axar Patel’s backup and will field him regularly in the A team.

The selection committee believes that once Ravindra Jadeja calls it a day, Manav Suthar can become the second left-arm orthodox bowler in the team. He is also expected to board the flight along with the India A team that will play three four-day matches in Australia.
