Little more than a month after Kraigg Bathwaite resigned when the captain of the Western Indies Testing team after leading the team for four years, Crickt West Indies (CWI) has designated his new leader. The discarded test player Roston Chase has been appointed New Test captain, although he has not played the red ball format for more than two years, with his last appearance in March 2023 during a South Africa tour.

However, the veteran everyone brings a great experience to the table, which debuted in Crickt Test in 2016 and that appears in 49 games since then. Despite being on the sidelines, Roston Chase remained a strong candidate for a return.

Chase has obtained more than 2,000 races at an average of 26.33 in red ball cryket, including five centuries and eleven years fifty. As a bowling player, he has claimed 85 WICKETS to an average of 46, with four sets of five Wickt. While these statistics may not be exceptional, current alternatives have not had something better, which led him to win the captaincy given his great experience.

Roston Chase is currently in Ireland with the Western Indies team for a series of three games against the host nation. After this, the team will go to England for another three -game hate series later in the month.

As a newly appointed test captain, the first assignment of Chase will be to lead the Western Indies in their next series of three games against Australia at home. The Opening Test is scheduled for June 25 to 29 in Bridgetown, marking the beginning of the World Championship of World Testing Championship (WTC) 2025–27 of the Western Indies.
