Australia national cricket team spinner Nathan Lyon has spoken about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He said that they are excited for the summer and cannot wait to play against the Indian national cricket team in the five-match Test series.

The Rohit Sharma-led team and the Pat Cummins-led team will lock horns in a Test series in November-December and January. The two teams will lock horns in the five-match Test series, which will also be a part of the ICC World Test Championship.

It is worth noting that the battle between the two teams has been of high intensity as both teams have displayed a high-quality brand of cricket. But it has been around 10 years since the Pat Cummins-led team defeated the Rohit Sharma-led team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Men In Blue have been sensational both at home and in Australia. What’s been impressive is that their performances have been in Australia. Also, the Men In Blue have been absolutely incredible on the last two tours, as despite being under pressure they have managed to win the series.

This time, the challenge will be different. The experienced Australian team will be up against a young Indian side. Players like Nathan Lyon, Marnus Labuschagne, the fast-paced bowlers and others will be crucial to the home team’s chances and they would be keen to pull off a comeback this time.

Nathan Lyon, speaking about the upcoming series against India, said that he always wanted to compete against the best and there can be no one better than India. He also spoke about his competition with Ravichandran Ashwin and said that it is a privilege to play against him and learn from him. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“I’ve always said throughout my entire career that I want to compete against the best and you look at the entire Indian line-up, the entire team, there are absolute superstars everywhere and you want to compete and challenge yourself against them and I know Ash and I obviously debuted at similar times and we’ve competed against each other in a number of series now and between Ash and I I have nothing but respect for Ash.

“I feel like I love watching him bowl, he’s an absolute master of the art of off-spin bowling and it’s been an absolute privilege to play against him and learn from him. It’s very exciting, obviously it’s a massive summer for us here so I can’t wait to have the Indian lads here.”

Nathan Lyon has had great success against the Indian National Cricket Team in the Test format. He has often put Indian batsmen in trouble with his off-spin and would be keen to make an impact this time and help his team win.

Hopefully this summer we can turn things around with India and put real pressure on them – Marnus Labuschagne issues statement on BGT after Nathan Lyon

Marnus Labuschagne also shared his thoughts on the upcoming Test series against the Indian national cricket team. He highlighted the battle between the teams and said that it is a tough competition.

Marnus Labuschagne also spoke about the Indian batsmen and said that they are the reason why they are difficult to beat. But the batsman is hopeful of turning things around this time and winning the series. He explained:

“Both Australia and India love the game and they are at their best right now. The energy when these two teams play together is always high. There is always a lot of anticipation. These two teams, no matter where we are playing, whether it is in England, whether it is in Australia, whether it is in India, it is always a tough competition.

“India’s fast bowling quartet is very good, which really makes them so strong in Australian conditions, makes them such a tough team to beat in Australian conditions. Hopefully this summer we can turn things around and put them under real pressure,” he concluded.
