The Netherlands cricket team has announced a 16-member strong squad for the upcoming T20 tour to South Africa. The Dutch team will play seven games on its visit against four different teams.

Netherlands will begin their tour with the two T20 vs SA20 matches against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The Dutch team will play two matches against the defending SA20 champions on January 4 and 6 respectively.

Holland will then play two matches against Paarl Royals and then one against Mumbai Indians in Cape Town on January 8. The Dutch team will then travel to Johannesburg to take the Lions to play the remaining T20I matches.

Veteran players Colin Ackermann, Logan van Beek, Bas de Leede and Roelof van der Merwe will be missing T20Is. While 12 members of the team that participated in the 2023 ICC World Cup will be part of the team for the seven T20s on South African soil.

Scott Edwards will captain the team, while fast bowler Viv Kingma, Leeward Islands and left-arm spinner Daniel Doram have been called up to the team. The trio missed out on the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 and it will be a great opportunity for them to regain their place in the team.

Holland has also called up batsman Michael Levitt and pace bowler Kyle Klein for the first time. Aryan Dutt, who shone in the 2023 World Cup with the ball, has also been named in the team. The spinner has not played any T20Is so far and it will be a chance for him to get into the rhythm.

The seven T20s will be a great opportunity for the Netherlands to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The event will take place in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean in June 2024. The Dutch team will He recently qualified for the event and would be hoping to put on a show.

Netherlands had a decent outing in the ICC World Cup 2023. They defeated semi-finalists South Africa and also Bangladesh. At one point, they were in a big fight for the Champions Trophy spot, but narrowly missed out.
